Sukyong and Phil Melton welcomed Charles Michael Melton into the world on January 4, 1991, in Juneau, Alaska. His mother is a Korean immigrant who immigrated to the US in 1990 along with his father, who is an English-born American. Interestingly, their oldest child is Melton. Because his father was in the military, his family traveled around a lot. The family spent almost five years in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, South Korea.
After a while, they made Manhattan, Kansas, their home. Melton completed his education at Manhattan High School in 2009.
