At the 2019 Canadian International Faith & Family Film Festival, he received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Buchanan played Colton in the drama film Chance (directed by John B. Crye), which debuted at the Starlite Drive-In in Amelia, Ohio, on May 22, 2020.
In 2021, Buchanan played Cameron Kweller in the lead role of He’s All That, a reimagining of She’s All That starring Addison Rae. In the 2022 adventure comedy The Hyperions, Buchanan portrayed Apollo.
The British teen romantic comedy film How to Date Billy Walsh, which was directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai and published on Amazon Prime Video on April 5, 2024, stars Buchanan with Sebastian Croft and Charithra Chandran.
