Esra Bilgic is a Turkish actress, born on 14 October 1992, best known for her role in the Historical Turkish television series Dirilis: Ertugrul, as Halima Hatun. One of her character portrayals in Ramo, a crime drama is also famous.
Early Life – Education and Birth Place
Esra was born in Ankara, Turkey on the 14th of October, in 1992 with just one year’s difference from Daniela Ruah. Currently, she is studying Law at Marmara University, Turkey. She had a TV career debut in 2014 from her most famous series Dirilis: Ertugrul. In 2021, when the Taliban took over Afghanistan, she made a controversial statement on social media. She tweeted “I don’t want refugees in my country” and “I don’t want Afghans here” which was considered hateful by Dawn. However, She removed it later.
Struggle and Career
Esra made her acting career debut as Halima Sultan in the historical Turkish series TV Dirliis: Ertugrul, in which she worked alongside Engin Duzyatan, Cengiz Coskun, and Arda Anarat. The series Dirilis: Ertugrul is the story of Ertugrul Bey, the father of Ottoman Bey, who founded the Ottoman Dynasty. Esra was cast as the mother of the Ottoman Bey but left the series in 2018 due to some changes in the next season.
Later, Bilgic worked with Hazal Subasi and Tolgahan Sayisman in Bir Umut Yeter. Moreover, she appeared in the Turkish film Adanis Kutsai Kavga, as the main character opposite Ismail Filiz. She was also cast as the main lead in the Turkish crime TV series Ramo.
Aside from her fame in Turkey, She is also widely famous in Pakistan.
From 2021 to 2022, Bilgic appeared in a period drama Kanunsuz Topraklar, as a main lead alongside Ugur Gunes. However, the series stopped airing due to poor ratings just after 16 episodes.
She has also been working in ads including her appearance in the Love Cloud collection of Victoria’s Secret commercial. Esra doesn’t have a wide career like Anne Coesens and Jemima West however, she owns a bigger fandom.
